Tony Gallagher

Owner/President

Is an owner and the President of Sparta Crane & Drilling. He is a veteran and honorably served in the United States Army. Tony is a licensed CDL driver and has been in the construction industry for over 30 years and has experience in all divisions of the company. Tony is a native to the central Texas area, he grew up in Belton and graduated from Belton High School. Tony is very involved in the community and has served on city boards, home builders associations, & various charitable and community organizations.

Tony likes to spend his time away from Sparta with his family and friends. He enjoys hunting, traveling, and relaxing by the pool while cooking on his smoker. He is a very proud father of his children and likes to share stories about them. His son has also spent some time working with Sparta during his breaks from college. He graduated from LSU with a degree in Engineering. His daughter is attending the University of Tarleton with a degree in Nursing.

Ryan Smith

Owner/Vice President

Is an owner and the Vice President of Sparta Crane & Drilling. He graduated high school in Salado, TX and furthered his education with an associate degree from Temple College. Ryan has been operating cranes and building billboards for over 14 years, 8 years of operating drilling rigs, and 20+ years in welding. He is a licensed CDL driver and has his certifications as an NCCCO FDR, TLL, TSS & Slurry operator. He is also a certified proctor for NCCCO FDR, TLL, & TSS programs and a credentialed TSC and TAC. He is a management committee member for NCCCO Drill rig operator exam. He has a 6G certified welder certification as well as an OSHA 30, CPR, & Fall protection. Ryan is an advocate for local charities and helps serve his community often. He serves on the City of Temple Planning and Zoning Committee, and on the ADSC Safety Summit. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, family, and friends. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, golf, travelling, and anything BBQ.

Wren Pamplin

Controller/Human Resources Administrator

Is the Controller and Human Resources Administrator for Sparta Crane & Drilling. Wren manages all the finances of the company as well as the Human Resources side. She joined the company in 2020 and took the reigns as an executive member of the team. She also serves as a notary for the company. Before Wren came to Sparta, she spent 17 years in a management/HR role and brought a lot of insight on the laws and policies for employees. She keeps us current on the ever-evolving changes to the state regulations, workman’s comp, and with our taxes. Wren is a native to the area and graduated from Belton High School. She enjoys spending time at home with her family and dogs, watching movies, traveling, camping, and getting together with friends. 

Rachel Crowder

Accounts Receivable Manager

Is the Accounts Receivable Manager for Sparta Crane & Drilling. Rachel had 5 years of previous quickbooks/HR experience before she came to Sparta. Rachel maintains and issues all our billings, estimates, and invoices. She works with Dom to maintain the fleet as well as human resource relations. Rachel spends her weekends with her husband and her son. They enjoy the theatre, gardening, being outdoors, and game nights as a family.

Marshall Smith

Operations Manager

Is the Operations Manager for the Crane division at Sparta Crane & Drilling. He is our California born crane expert who joined us in 2020. He originally took his position at Sparta as a senior crane operator. His experience and leadership abilities quickly led him to the top and into the role as Operations Manager over his Division. He is a licensed CDL driver as well as a certified NCCCO crane operator with a CPR certification. He has been in the crane operations business for 18 years. Marshall likes to spend his time away from Sparta with his family at races, fishing, baseball, and being outdoors in general.

Cameron Sewell

Compliance Officer

Is the Compliance Officer with a focus on safety and compliance for Sparta Crane & Drilling. He is a retired Us Army veteran who served our country for 20 years. He is certified as a CDL driver as well as certified in OSHA 30, CPR & Fall protection. He has a B.A. in Occupational Health and Safety. Cameron enjoys motorcycle rides and woodworking in his spare time.

Dom Ferrua

Fleet Manager

Is the Fleet Manager for Sparta Crane & Drilling. Dom joined our team in 2023 with over 23 years of experience to lead the repairs and maintenance over our entire fleet of trucks and rigs. Originating from California himself, he has brought an insight that we did not have before and he has made huge improvements to our overall fleet. Dom is certified in air brakes & air conditioning. When he is away from Sparta he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, watching UFC, basketball, and football.
